Ingleside Vineyards to Host “The Art of Wine” Exhibition during Virginia Wine Month
Exhibit is a collaboration with the Colonial Beach Artists’ Guild and JarrettThor Fine Arts
OAK GROVE, VA Sept. 25, 2013 – Ingleside Vineyards and the Colonial Beach Artists’ Guild have joined together to present “The Art of Wine,” an exhibit of paintings and photographs that portray Ingleside’s winemaking process and surroundings in the heart of the Northern Neck wine region. Visitors are invited to experience the beauty of the vineyards and winery through the eyes of the artists of the Colonial Beach Artists’ Guild. The exhibit will be held in October to celebrate “Virginia Wine Month,” and will be on display in the Pavilion at Ingleside Vineyards in Oak Grove, VA from October 2 through November 19, 2013. A reception to view the art and meet the artists is scheduled on Sunday, October 13 from 2-5 pm. All are cordially invited to attend this event free of charge, and Ingleside wines will be available for sale by the glass.
The Colonial Beach Artists’ Guild members were invited to visit Ingleside starting in late June to capture the beauty of the vineyards, elements of the production process, the tasting room and courtyard, by photo, painting or sketch. Approximately 20 artists from the Guild will have their works displayed and for sale in the exhibit. The logistics and sales of artwork from the exhibit are being managed by JarrettThor Fine Arts from Colonial Beach, VA.
The Colonial Beach Artists’ Guild (CBAG) just celebrated its 10th anniversary. Starting with eight founders, it has grown to almost 100 members. The Guild is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide exhibition and education opportunities for its members while actively supporting the community’s appreciation for visual arts and artistic processes. The Guild provides a $500 scholarship each year to assist an aspiring artist to attend college. Additionally, the Guild contributes money and supplies to the Colonial Beach Schools to further art education. The Guild, among other things, has painted two murals for the town and provided original art to line the boardwalk, with plans to add more in the spring of 2014.
JarrettThor Fine Arts will be coordinating and managing this exhibit for the Artists’ Guild and Ingleside Vineyards. Located in Colonial Beach, VA, JarrettThor Gallery opened in 2007 and is owned and operated by Joyce and Carl Thor. Artists themselves, they are committed to cultivating local arts and culture, featuring a variety of art shows and workshops during the year. Producing its first wines in 1980, Ingleside Vineyards is one of Virginia’s oldest and largest wineries. Over the last 30 years, Ingleside has won awards from numerous state, national and international competitions. Ingleside Vineyards welcomes visitors with daily guided tours and tastings, wine events, and wedding facilities, as well as overnight stays in two waterfront rental cottages.
